For a cost effective alternative to an electric string quartet, or for more intimate events, Silken Strings offers both solo cello and electric duo performance options.
Solo cellist Lizzy May was first discovered when Take That invited her to be part of the opening act in their major international comeback tour. Branching out into pop and rock music after an intensive classical education at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal Academy of Music, and gaining a first class degree in cello performance, she has built a successful solo career as an electric cellist.
From performing for the Queen at Buckingham Palace as part of her Jubilee celebrations to being selected as the exclusive artist for Andy Murray at the Wimbledon Champions’ Dinner, Lizzy May has an extensive and impressive resume of performing for the world’s most premier events.
Lizzy May has appeared many times on TV with artists including Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Il Divo, Westlife, Cheryl Cole, Russell Watson, Kasabian, Noisettes, Aled Jones, Sharleen Spiteri and Gary Barlow.
